Sweeney Todd
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a dark, thrilling and masterfully crafted musical by Stephen Sondheim that blends razor-sharp wit with gothic drama. The story follows Benjamin Barker, a barber who returns to Victorian London under the name Sweeney Todd after years of wrongful exile. Broken and consumed by vengeance, he discovers that the corrupt Judge Turpin destroyed his family—and Todd vows to take revenge.
Reuniting with the resourceful and morally flexible Mrs. Lovett, the pie-shop owner downstairs, Sweeney sets up his barbershop once more. But as his thirst for justice grows into something far more dangerous, the unlikely pair hatch a grisly plan that shocks the whole of Fleet Street.
With its haunting score, dark humour and unforgettable characters, Sweeney Todd explores love, loss, morality and madness in a world where the line between right and wrong becomes fatally blurred. A gripping tale of revenge and redemption, it remains one of musical theatre’s most powerful and iconic works.
